When I began having the side effects after surgery, the doctor took me off of the Furosemide and the side effect immediately disappeared, and I also had no edema for a few weeks. The doctor then put me back on the 20 mg dosage, which I still take. It seems to help sometimes, but not all of the time.
taken for feet swelling
Excessive dry skin since using this drug
Received a pacemaker and feet and ankles seem to swell more. Told to take 20 mg and potassium daily. You cannot leave home on this drug. And what is it doing to my kidneys?? Some swelling still there.
Good at keeping too much water from getting around my foot and ankle.
Before i started to take lasix i was very swelled up i could not walk after taking this med i began to lose all of the fluids in my legs but i did get headaches...
I have Bi-Lateral Meniere's disease. The glands that control the fluids in my body have died. So, without some type of diuretic, I swell huge! I can retain huge huge amounts of water and never urinate. without, I can drink a 12 pak of Coke on maybe pee once for the entire day.
So, getting rid of fluid is paramount for me. I now take 160mg (2 80mg pills) of Lasix plus Zaroxolyn 2.5mg. But, my major problem now is that I rid myself of Potassium at an alarming rate - Atrium-Fibulation twice and landed in the Hospital - Heart raced at over 150-175 bpm and had a Cardio-Version. 2nd time (last week) I caught it in time and only 3 days in hospital. Now, I take 12 K-Dur pills a day. or another words 18,000mg of Potassium per day to combat what Lasix strips from my body just to maintain a 3.9 Potassium level. I urinate all through the day and through the night. I am up at least 4 times a night. 12am, 2am 4am 6am I am not kidding. But, I am not swelled up and no fat feet or fingers or congestive heart failure.
The Zaroxolyn 2.5 first and then 30 minutes later the Lasix 160mg in the morning (once).
Plus I am a type 2 diabetic - avg 135mg/dl and I have RA.
This medication definitely works...
I had my ovaries removed and after that surgery I had edema in my stomach, legs, hands, arms, feet and legs and since I have been on Lasix and Potassium, I have better days.
