I was diagnosed with Barretts Esophagus about five years ago. I started on Nexium as my first and only medication which stopped my frequent heartburn (sometimes weeks at a time) which I would treat for years with sodium bicarb often unsuccessfully. My last Upper GI showed a smaller area of damage which the Doc said wouldn't happen. I have only had a problem with heartburn if I forget the Nexium and eat something spicy or acidic. I can't say enough about the drug. I feel like it's been a Godsend for me
Love it Hate it! I tried 40MG Nexium for about 3 weeks. It completely stopped my heartburn for the first time in 20 years! But it also gave me side effects of severe dizziness and facial numbness that sent me to a Neurologist. After discontinuing the side effects went away. I really wish I could take it but it’s not worth the problems.....
Nexium is the only thing that works for me. I have been taking it for years and have had no problems with it. I may have heartburn only when I over indulge in spicey foods (which I love) or when I let myself get stressed, which I try very hard to avoid. I say two (2) tumbs up for that purple pill called NEXIUM. If you have a very bad case of G.E.R.D. (acid reflux), don't let anyone tell you that over the counter junk works, because let me tell you, it does not. If your insurance company does not want to pay for it, have your doctor write a letter to them.
very easy to take.
Somewhat helpful I have severe GERD and Esophagitis. After a 3-day hospital stay for uncontrollable vomiting, I was put on Nexium. Before Nexium, I had bouts of all day vomiting every three weeks. I have tried most of the other medicines, and Nexium successfully stopped my vomiting.
I actually take 80mg of it a day. At one point, I took 120mg of it a day. I still have to take antacids and avoid a lot of foods. But, I feel better, and it's a heck of a lot better than surgery.
I Love it I've tried them all. This one works the quickest and last the logest. No side effects that I know of yet, its only been a little over two weeks so I guess we'll see.
The best Nexium works best for my 'chonic' agida. I can skip a day and it still works. If i could quit spicy foods, wine, and gevaila coffee, perhaps I wouldn't need it but it's a worthwhile trade-off.
Um...? I *Think* It Was Working... I can't remember if I've been on this drug for a year or not so sorry if I fudged the dates. Anyway, it's been a while now...and I was doing great. But then I got "sick"...with something that no one could identify...and now I'm all "GERD"-y and there are other problems and the Nexium doesn't seem to be "completely" helping...
I think I need a gastro consult...STAT! I'm working on it...
Stay tuned.
But up until now, I've been really pleased with Nexium. I tried to go off it once and boy did I regret it! It has always worked well but now? I don't know what's going on...
nexium i've been using it for over a year as i get really bad gerd
and crohns disease .
Medium term use of Nexium Am a 58 year old male and have had Heartburn symptoms for over 30 years even though I watch what I eat. Have previously been on PPI medication (prilosec) but always got severe oesophageal spasms within 2 weeks of starting medication and had to stop. Have tried other medication like Zantac but found they did not give much relief.
A few months ago found difficulty in swallowing and voice became hoarse. Had a laproscopy which showed small areas of Barretts oesophagous and was started on Nexium 40mg daily. Symptoms and heartburn cleared within days within days although felt bloated continuosly . Found that reducing to 20mg daily alleviated this. Unfortunately after 2 months severe spasms started again. Found that need to stop medication for about 2 weeks every 6 weeks to avoid spasms. Severe heartburn returns within a day and other symptoms within a week of stopping medication.
