Be forewarned when taking this drug... While Phenergan definitely does help to reduce or even get rid of nausea completely, there are many unexpected, agitation side effects that can occur. The one I personally most often face is having the feeling of resltess legs and arms...a fidgety sort of feeling that does not go away no matter. It's like you can't sit still! So everytime I'm horribly ill and vomiting I have to see if my physical condition really outweighs the awful side effects of the drug, and then see if I want to take that risk. I do know that the restless legs syndrome that occurs with Phenergan will lessen in severity as a tolerance to the drug builds up, but until it does, be careful! I've gotten sooo agitated in the hospital after taking this medication because I mean how horrible is it to not be able to sit or lay still?!?! It's awful! And also, Phenergan has another major side effect of drowsiness which is basically because it is not only used as an anti-emetic, but also as a sedative so in a way that's helpful when you are having a migraine since you aren't in pain if you are sleeping...but yeah....that's all I really have to say about this drug...just please be careful! There are many other anti-nausea drugs you can take that won't sedate you in this way and/or cause such shakiness/tremors in your legs!

I got a seroius bout of Hives this weekend. so bad there was only about 10% of my body unaffected, My head was clear and below my knees, but eveything else looked like a map of the world, I thought I was going to scrtach my skin off! I eventually had trouble breathing and had to go to the ER and get something!

One Phenergan and within 6 hours I was clear, but I am keeping them close to hand, just in case, this stuff is the best!!

Phenergan 50 mg. Suppository Although I use Zofran PO when possible, if I'm already vomiting, a Phenergan 50 mg. suppository works well for me.

Promethazine - An Excellent Occasional Sedative In Britain promethazine is sold under the trade name Phenergan, and used as an anti-histamine, anti-emetic and sedative. It is *extremely* sedating and works within 20 minutes. It is one of the few sedatives that truly knocks me out and doesn't leave a hangover in the morning.
I'm glad I discovered it.
The only side ffects are a dry mouth and lack of co-ordination. Probably best if you take it immediately before getting into bed.
Think trazodone to the power of ten!!!

AVOMINE I do not know why they say this knocks people out! maybe i am taking a different kind of promethazine, but it certainly doesnt knock me out! and i get tired on ALL meds that say drowsiness whereas many dont, i get the hangover and everything! i admit this does give me a slight hangover for the next day but it isnt really much of a sleep aid, but then again i use it for nausea :)

Phenergan w/migraines Now getting severe migraines for 20+ years, I have always received 100mg demerol with 50mg of phenergan injection. I find the phenergan works terrific for the nausea and vomiting associated with the migraine attacks. No negative side effects at all. It's the best!

A good compliment to migraine meds I was told at the ER to take this medication with my regular migraine meds (Fiorinal /cod. and/or Midrin) to help the effectiveness of the drugs. So, I do. My doctor agreed. Plus, I am nauseated much of the time. I have both the pills and suppositories.

Took it for nausea only. I used Phenergan suppositories AND pills for nausea. The sleepiness would last for days, though. It did help the nausea.

Works as additional measure Phenergan works well as a additional measure for my migraine after I have taken Zomig, painkiller and celebrex and when I need that last kick of medicine to control the pain. It usually does the trick. By it self it isnt enough.

This cough syrup was 100% effective in treating my bronchitis cough. The only complaint is that it made me very sleepy and groggy. I was able to sleep through the entire night without waking.
