Great, helps with sleep I began taking this in combination with estradiol patch (Vivelle dot) at .075 mg a day when menopause added another layer to my depression. After all the hype about risks of HRT, I went off of both and my depression (which had really responded well to these drugs in combo with Effexor XR) returned. I am now back on HRT. Prometrium doesn't seem to have the weight gain side effect that other progestin products do (at least for me) and it really helps with sleep. I take it before bedtime.

No Side Effects at All This micronized version of progesterone is just the greatest. I had in the past tried compounded progesterone, in various formulas, and gotten migraine headeaches from them all after about 3 days of taking the pills. I wanted to use some form of bio identical HRT, but without a natural progesterone without side effects, I put off taking any products again until Prometrium arrived. I use a Vivelle Patch (Dot) at the lowest dose .025. to compliment the Prometrium.
I make a small co-payment on my insurance for it, so I can not fairly rate the cost effectiveness of Prometrium.

I have PCOS and use Prometrium to regulate my menstral cycle monthly I take 400mg every day for ten days and I usually get my period on the last day and the length fluctuates from 4 to 6 days light to moderate. I have no conceived yet but it has help me acheive the goal of keeping my uterine lining thinner than before and I have a normal cycle, where before I was having two periods a year on my own. My insurance covers some of the cost and I have a 25.00 cost but someone told me that you can get it at Wal-Mart on their reduce cost list for 9.00 a month, something I am going to look into. I suffer from PMDD-extreme PMS. My condition is debilitating to me mentally, physically, and emotionally. I was taking a generic form of Prozac, which increased my desire to commit suicide. This is the first month I have taken Prometrium and I feel like I can finally have a normal period. I have only had 2 moments this month leading up to my cycle where I thought the" light switch entering the land of the insane" was about to be flipped. However, this month differed from other months because I actually had enough control to bring myself back. I recommend this medication for any woman who suffers from PMS or even worse, PMDD. It working a miracle at this very moment!
