This is an excellent sleep aid. Even at a low dose of 50 mg per night, it has helped my insomnia and melancholic depression immensely. I suggest that you take a cough drop with it to prevent the dry mouth it often causes. My lips do chap slightly more easily because of this, but it is worth it. The dry mouth gets less as you become accustomed to the medication.

I feel my eyes get heavier after about 20 min. My thoughts slow down, so my mind doesn't race as much, but doesn't zonk me out so that will be good for eventual tapering off. I am not afraid to go to sleep anymore, so that will help break that cycle of fear from thinking about the 'act' of falling asleep. I still awake once during the night, but can fall back asleep easily. I used to wake up several times. My body still responds to my daughter's voice in the morning (that is my alarm clock) which is good. I am a little groggy in the morning, but much better than the exhaustion I would feel otherwise. I don't want to be on this for years, but it is helping me trust again in my own ability to relax my mind and keep a PASSIVE attitude about sleeping.

After having tried many SSRI's, which unfortunately for me, did the opposite of what they are meant to do. Zoloft was especially bad and they all exacerbated the insomnia and anxiety symptoms of my depression. Trazadone is an older anti-depressant and is often overlooked as doctors seem to be of the opinion that SSR's are the best and only answer. It completely solved the insomnia and the anxiety has be cut by 3/4. The only side effect, which was very mild, is that it can irritate the stomach, but that was remedied by eating a small snack or taking it with milk.

T resolved my sleeping problems immediately. Before, I would wake up after about three hours having a panic attack. Now I sleep for eight or nine hours - no more panic attacks, I would really like to be able to sleep naturally. Have tried without success so I'll keep taking it. Am also on other meds for anxiety and depression.

I began taking trazadone many years ago because I would get up in the middle of the night and cut with out waking up. The trazadone has helped. It helps me sleep through the night with out getting up. I also have Major Depressive Disorder and the trazadone has helped with that too. Only side effect I have had is not being able to get up if necessary (emergences, and children ect.)

i felt angry at everybody when i missed two doses of this. it some what helped me with my anxiety, but it is a work in progress.

Worked not so good for depression, but did help me sleep after a bit of getting used to.

For years I could not sleep through the night and would wake up several times during the night. I had tried other sleep medications but none helped. After using the Trazodone (100mg, nightly) I was able to sleep through the night without waking up. It works great and if I forget to use it I will wake up during the night. I highly recommend it for sleep problems. I have been using it for several years now with no side effects.

On a low dosage of this for Chronic Insomnia,together with Seroquel and Remeron.
I'm very sensitive to even a pin drop at night time.I found none of them work that effectively on their own over a long time,but together can put down an Elephant :)
Caused a low pulse rate and pounding heart when I got off the sofa at the begining of taking it.but wasn't a problem after a few days.I wouldn't start off at more than 50mg.I'm satisfied with 100mg now
